There are hundreds of skins in Counter-Strike 2. But not all of them are unique. Some have the same texture, but the appearance can be very different! Today, the CS.MONEY Blog will tell you about seven “families” of leather that share the same texture.
You can buy all these skins on our website, and our search filters and online viewing tools will help you find your perfect skin!
Hardened Case

Leather: MAC-10 Case Hardened, Five-Seven Case Hardened, AK-47 Case Hardened
Let’s start with the elephant in the room. Among the first skins to appear in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, many have the same texture. The most famous example of such skins is the entire Case Hardened series, which includes skins for AK-47, Five-SeveN, a set of knives, and gloves. All of these skins use one square texture.
Other leather families that share the same texture include:
- safari net;
- Red Net;
- Fading;
- Stained;
- Steel Blue;
- Evening;
- DDPAT Forest;
- And others
In collections released by Valve and early cases, you will often find skins with the same texture.
Target

Skin: USP-S Target Acquired, SSG 08 Threat Detected and AUG Surveillance
In The Control collection, which was released in December 2020, there are several groups of skins that have the same texture. The most prominent trio is USP-S Target Acquired, SSG 08 Threat Detected, and AUG Surveillance. The texture itself looks like a city map with marked points.
Even though it has the same design, the appearance of the skin is different. This is a great example of how Valve divides skins based on their rarity. For example, the USP-S Target Acquired is the rarest of the three, and it shows. Its bright, saturated colors and sharp, contrasting design are in line with Valve’s guidelines for defining skin rarity.
Number

Skins: FAMAS Main Conspiracy, P2000 Delivery, and Dual Beretta Switchboards
Three more skins from The Control collection. Like the previous trio, this skin uses one texture, but differs in the brightness of the design. The FAMAS Prime Conspiracy is the brightest, while the Dual Berettas Switch Board looks much duller. The texture itself is hundreds of numbers stacked on top of each other.
Hell

Skins: AUG Sweeper, USP-S Check Engine, AK-47 Safety Net
The 2018 Inferno Collection also has its own set of skins. These are the AUG Sweeper, USP-S Check Engine, and AK-47 Safety Net. All three use textures with colorful grids and stripes in the background. However, they both look very different! The AK-47 is clearly orange, while the USP-S is red. But if you look closely, everything falls into place. The grid is the same, and the lines in the background are the same. The only difference is the color. Very clever from Valve, very clever.
Phoenix

Skins: Galil AR Phoenix Blacklight, R8 Revolver Phoenix Marker, Negev Phoenix Stencil, and Tec-9 Phoenix Chalk
In The Havoc collection, four skins share one texture:
- Galil AR Phoenix Black Light
- Phoenix R8 Revolver Marker
- Phoenix Negev Stencil
- Phoenix Tec-9 Chalk
The texture looks like graffiti with the words “Phoenix” in a different style. Additionally, one corner displays a portrait of the firebird itself. The phoenix looks amazing— just compare the regular Galil AR Phoenix Blacklight to the same but with pattern #729. Skin instantly looks three times cooler!
Ancient

Skins: USP-S Ancient Vision, G3SG1 Ancient Ritual, P90 Ancient Earth
The Ancient Collection has skins that perfectly match the atmosphere of the map. These are USP-S Ancient Vision, G3SG1 Ancient Ritual, and P90 Ancient Earth. The texture refers to the reliefs and mosaics that decorated ancient temples in Central America. Interestingly, because of the many contrasting details, the similarities between the skins are not immediately obvious.
dog teeth

Leather: UMP-45 Houndstooth, Desert Shamagh Hand Wraps, Scarlet Shamagh Sports Gloves
Unlike the previous skin, the same pattern is easy to recognize on this trio. This is a simple corner design. It looks just as good on gloves as it does on weapons. By the way, its origin comes from the Middle East, where such patterns were used to decorate clothes and headgear.
Reusing textures for different skins has been a practice in Counter-Strike for over ten years. Sometimes the similarities are obvious, but other times it’s surprising how many different skins can use the same image. By the way, skins like Asiimov, although similar, are each drawn separately by an artist. Be sure to read our post about all Asiimov skins and find out the best combinations.
