Tomorrow marks the start of the Perfect World Shanghai Major for CS2, where sixteen teams will battle it out. However, we have seen it all recently at the RMR tournament. Usually, esports players take advantage of this opportunity to show off their best skin on the server. Today, the CS.MONEY blog will tell you which skins are becoming popular and the differences in skin trends in each region.
Don’t forget, we’re holding a Battle Pass event, and this is a great opportunity for you to get cool skins for free! Just complete the task and play CS2!
Most Popular CS2 Skins in Each RMR Region
Surprisingly, each region has its own preferences, although there are also universal preferences. In any region’s RMR, you’ll see M4A1-S Printstream and USP-S Kill Confirmed above, simply because these are considered the best skins for their respective weapons. However, the situation with the AK-47 is less clear. At RMR Asia-Pacific, AK-47 Redline is a top choice — an affordable yet stylish skin that’s perfect for cool crafts. In America’s RMR, the AK-47 Bloodsport reigns supreme, and we dare say that this weapon is seen more often in this region than in all other regions combined. On the other hand, Europe prefers more expensive skins, such as AK-47 Fire Serpent, AK-47 Gold Arabesque, AK-47 Wild Lotus, and AK-47 Case Hardened.
Most Popular CS Skins in all regions
We look at the most popular skins for the best guns: AK-47, M4A1-S (M4A4 is less commonly used), Glock-18, USP-S, and AWP. In addition to the universally loved M4A1-S Printstream and USP-S Kill Confided, the top 5 also includes the USP-S Printstream, AK-47 Bloodsport (thanks to the American RMR) and Glock-18 Water Elemental (which is very popular in Europe). Why two USP-S skins? In theory, for the AK-47 or Glock-18, there are several S-tier skins so that preferences are more evenly distributed. We’ll cover all of that later in this article.
Most Popular AK-47 Skin at RMR in Shanghai
Due to its huge popularity in American RMR, the AK-47 Bloodsport takes the top spot. Right behind him is the AK-47 Redline, which is also seen everywhere, perhaps due to its accessibility and “old school” appeal. Finally, in third place is the AK-47 Fire Serpent, which appears a little more often than many other decent skins.
Most Popular AWP Skin on RMR in Shanghai
Let’s shift our focus to the most popular sniper rifles. AWPs are unique in their class in that they are typically only used by one or two players per team, meaning they don’t generate many appearances overall. When we collected data on the most popular AWPs in previous majors, the meta was a bit different. AWP Dragon Lore and AWP Chrome Cannon are still at the top, but this time AWP Asiimov occupies the top position. Could this be KennyS’ legacy? We should also mention another expensive skin frequently seen on servers — AWP Desert Hydra. Even though it is cheaper than Dragon Lore, it has a dedicated fan base in all regions.
Most Popular M4A1-S Skin at RMR in Shanghai
When it comes to the M4A1-S, there is one clear dominate — the M4A1-S Printstream. We saw a variety of skins on RMR, but the next three spots were filled by skins that all had one characteristic: they had no patterns on their bodies. This skin benefits from the Source 2 update, looks fantastic, and distribution is purely based on color preference. In second place is the M4A1-S Fade, followed by the M4A1-S Hot Rod in third position, and the M4A1-S Blue Phosphor in fourth position. All three are very worthy skins.
Most Popular USP-S Skin at RMR in Shanghai
The ratings for USP-S skins look very similar. There was one clear favorite, USP-S Kill Confirmed, followed by another strong contender, USP-S Printstream, which came in second. After that, competition became stiffer, with USP-S Neo-Noir and USP-S The Traitor becoming slightly more popular. Honorable mention goes to USP-S Cortex, a bright, affordable shell that rounds out the top five.
Most Popular Glock-18 Skins at RMR in Shanghai
The pistol categories for the assault party are slightly different. The top three Glock-18 skins are easy to identify, although the distribution within the top 3 is quite close. However, first up is the Glock-18 Water Element —a bright leather that catches the eye with its red and blue contrast. In second place is the Glock-18 Fade, whose popularity is not surprising, especially considering the popularity of the M4A1-S Fade. Rounding out the top three is the Glock-18 Dragon Tattoo — a prestigious and luxurious skin with a design that doesn’t distract from gameplay. Plus, dragons are a national symbol in China, so it makes sense that players would want to gain audience loyalty. And codes for the Battle Pass might get you closer to free CS2 skins. Many things may change during the major itself. Collectors will likely be more willing to loan out their prized skins, and we may see a move towards more expensive skins. The game starts tomorrow, so get your popcorn ready — world-class Counter-Strike awaits us!
